TAUFIELD AUSSIES and GLENS

The Life of Fin

Photo of FIN at age 10mths

I have decide to make this page as  a celebration  of Fin's life
He was a stunning showdog and a very loving boy

Aus Ch Taufield Try N Stop Me
SIRE = NZ Ch Melukylan Iso Paha Susi (Imp Fin)= red == DAM = Aus/NZ Ch Taufield Tryagen = blue/tan

Try was sent to a blue/tan dog but Try being Try decided she liked the red boy better and helped her self  she had 1 mating and produced 8 blue/tan pups 2 male and 6 female.  I kept a boy and a girl (Taufield Tryd N True) Truly.  From the start when I would let the puppies out one little boy would stop and sit at my feet and ask for a cuddle  it became a routine for him to have a cuddle before running off to play. as both boys were show quailty so got sucked in and kept the cuddly one,  I called him Fin as his father  was from Finland.  He started his show career at 4mths  a double weekend and 1st show he was res best dog and Baby Group & Baby Show =  2nd day he was again Baby Group & Baby Show.  He was on his way.  at 8mths he was Runnerup Group  the judge called out Fin and a foxie (who had already had a Best In Show ) it went through  my mind at least we got pulled out. but we actually got Runnerup / Puppy Group.
What a thrill

Fin's main problem was he inherited his mother's backend. not a good one. he also developed a jack hop. (why this is ok on a jack russell but not an aussie I don't know! LOL)  anyway sometimes  he would jack hop and be put down = thats life!!  when he walked properly he would win. He picked up his challenges quite quickly and only needed one to be a NZ Ch but I came back to Aus  before he turned 1yr so never got his NZ Ch title.   A friend!! offered to keep him and get the last one but changed her mind at the last minute after I had entered the shows and organized for Fin & Truly to follow me over later.  I covered all costs but they ended up coming with me. so no NZ title.  He had the most beautiful Head with a topknot, ruff and apron to die for  ( there are so few aussies with it all)  we need to get it back as those that are out there with all the furnishings are beautiful aussie's.

Anyway after housesitting for 3mths at Witta then 7/8mths in Peachchester (Glasshouse Mountains area) where Fin had his first stud to a red bitch and produced 6 pups. all red.  He did quite well in the ring and when he had his mind on the job would really step out. At the 07 Australian Terrier Club Qld 50th Anniversary show he won the Intermediate Class from an entry of 6 and went on to Intermediate in Show.   He had in the Feb won Runnerup in Group at Allora open show.  Fin won a lot of classes in Group from baby through to open.  He got his Aus Title at the age of 2yrs 4mths  during 07

Aussie Club Show with Judge J Ireland   Fin the day he was to leave for Tom's       Fin about 6wks after going to Tom

Tom Crick kept asking me if he could have Fin to show. At first I was reluctant as Tom had another male he was showing  of similar age and Fin tended to be aggresive to other males especially when girls were in season.  Fin had grown up with other males and they were fine playing with each other  until both boys had been used at stud and they decided to have a go at each other. I had kept them seperate.  Tom pestered me to let him have Fin and said he would move the other boy.  I finally decided to let him go we had an agreement that if it didn't work out Fin would come back to me.   I showed Tom how to show Fin but he did it his own way and to be honest Fin never really worked well for Tom. Fin loved Tom and Fin was not happy being locked in a pen most of the time. Tom told me that when he was out he chased the horses and also took off out the gate.  Tom has no gate or fence at the front of his house so dogs need to be confined at the back in the runs  when naughty like Fin.  When Fin went to Tom he only had a bitch but soon after he  aquired another male. I told him when the boy got to over 6mths and matured he would have trouble with Fin,  I said I'll take Fin back he said no it will be alright.  he then got a baby bitch.  the trouble started when the boy got older and Tom had to seperate them  the puppys had the run of the yard and  house and Fin was confined to the dog runs with  an electric fence to keep him in.  One visit I went to pat Fin through the fence and he was zapped and wouldn't come back to me.  Soon after Tom stopped showing Fin as it was to much hassle with the boys growling at each other all the time  (that I can understand)  Fin was left at home in the pen while Tom was showing, I suggested to Tom I take Fin back as he was concentrating on his young ones and Fin was  really superfluous to his needs.  He said no  I love him and he is happy.  after a few weeks of toing and froing Tom decided to let me have Fin back.

Fin as hecame back from tom  Fin after I cut off his coat  Fin 6 weeks after coming home with his bone
The first 2 photos were the day Fin came home to me                    third photo was taken 6 weeks later with Fin putting on weight

When I went to pick Fin up he was happy to be out and raced to the car I put him in and came home> on the drive home the smell of Fin was awful so I knew he needed a bath when put him in the bath I started to shampoo him and realised how skinny he was his spine was just knobbly under my hands and his ribs were very prominent.  It upset me and then after drying him I went to comb him out and his undercoat was just a mass of matts  there was noway Icould comb that out so I chopped it all off.  Fin had very sad eyes which broke my heart as he had always been so loving.   He slowly put on weight  he was about 2kg under weight and there was no muscle mass on his hindlegs.  He had become unstable emotionally and was not good with the other dogs.   I decided to put in a complaint to the CCC re the condition of the dog and the fact that Tom had allowed this.  The CCC in it's wisdom!!!  decided Tom had no case to answer!!!!  I felt the photos spoke for themselves = but no justice for Fin.  Tom has threatened me with going to his solicters for defaming him (yea right)  at least I didn't lie to the CCC like he did according to tom in his defence he stated that I wanted a relationship with him and he turned me down and I was trying to get my own back===  when I heard that I just burst out laughing (if I was looking  for a man I would look for a real man)  but obviously the CCC believed him  without even asking me if it was true.  suprising when people are threatened with legal action they back off quick
I am just sorry in hindsight that I let this man have Fin even for such a short time (15mths)  as it was Fin who suffered at his hands.

I finally decided that as Fin was not rehousable because of his emotional problems  I made the decision  to put him to sleep.  I cried for a few days after as I felt I let him down  and I have to live with that........

Fin  is now at the Rainbow Bridge and will be be fully healthy in mind and body.
